The EU programme Youth in Action

The EU programme Youth in Action is a tool for implementing youth policy at local, regional, national and European levels. Young people, youth leaders, organisations, municipalities and other bodies in Sweden can apply for financial support through the various sub-programmes of Youth in Action. The Swedish National Board for Youth Affairs is the national agency for Youth in Action in Sweden.

Youth Exchanges
Provides groups of young people from different countries with the opportunity to meet and learn about each other.

Youth Initiatives
Funds the implementation of local or international projects with a European perspective that build on the ideas of young people and relate to their conditions of living.

Youth Democracy Projects
Enables young people to exchange ideas and methods and to find models to promote active citizenship.

European Voluntary Service (EVS)
Makes it possible for young people to gain international experience by doing volunteer work in another country.

Training and networking
Gives organisations the opportunity to organise seminars and study trips, and helps them in the development of pan-European networks.

Meetings between young people and politicians
Gives municipalities, regions and organisations the opportunity to organise meetings between young people and political representatives and others that are responsible for local youth policy.

Training for youth leaders
Enables youth leaders to participate in trainings and seminars on international youth cooperation.

Only Swedish municipalities, Swedish organisations or persons living in Sweden are eligible to apply for grants to conduct projects within the EU programme 'Youth in Action'. Interested parties from other countries may apply for grants from the national agency for said EU programme in their respective country.
